Please enjoy these photos from the Spring 2018 implementation of Philly Scientists. A scientists from the Academy of Natural Sciences observes a ground beetle with students. A 6th grader uses her trowel to move sticks underneath a log during a collection. A 6th grader uses the Philly Scientist App to capture an image of an arachnid. Students work in groups to observe plants and animals in their schoolyard using collection tools and the Philly Scientist app. Each student group is given a collection bag with The tools in collection bag consist of 4 collection jars, 2 trowels, forceps, magnifying hand lenses, a field guide with animal groups and common animals from the area, a map of the schoolyard, a pencil, and the Philly Scientist app on an iPad.
